The first mass production car to use a V8, the 1934 Ford also went away from the slab-sided look which had dated previous models to horse-drawn carriages. The swept-back grille and swooping fenders gained many fans, and because all 1934 models came with a V8 they were also popular to tune up or at least use for their upgraded parts. As such, hot rodders loved them. The 1934 used an era-typical separate steel chassis, and these remain on many of the hot rodded cars even now.
